n order for someone to initiate an Instant Messenger conversation with you, they must see that you are online. When you are online, your nickname is listed in the Who's Online list, and a "Chat Now" icon appears on your profile. When you login to your profile, you automatically appear online.
Are The Messages I Send To Other Members Anonymous?

How do I know if I have new messages in my mailbox?
